The Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has made it clear to people that he cannot be speaker of parliament
The reason for this rejection by the MP is the fear of loosing his seat in the parliament house and most of all, not being able to take part in the law enforcement of the nation.
“The moment I take up the position as the Speaker, I would have to step out of the House because I can’t be a part of the deliberations after that” he said.
Kyei Mensah Bonsu also said his party, the New Patriotic Party(NPP) would be at a great lost if he gave in to being the speaker of parliament and that according to him was not right.
“I cannot be the Speaker of the House, even though I would love that. I would have to lose my seat as a member of the house in order to be the Speaker, but I am not sure my party is willing to go through that, considering the circumstances,” he pointed out.
