A member of the Ghana Under-20 World Cup-winning team in 2009 has revealed that investment into a 15years treasury bill was secured for them after winning the trophy in Egypt.
Juve Stabia defender, Bright Addae, who missed a spot-kick during the final penalty shootout encounter with Brazil at the tournament told Amansan Krakye on Radio Central that,
“When we came to Ghana after winning the Under 20 World Cup we were paid all the monies they promised us. They also opened an account for all of us and did an investment for us through a 15year treasury bill.
“As for that money we can’t talk about it now because we’ve now gotten to 10 years and we have 5years left. It is when the additional 5years come before we can talk about that money invested in the treasury bill”.
Most Ghanaian national football teams are promised with mouthwatering offers behind the scenes after winning a competition but hardly are those promises fulfilled.
Legendary football veteran, Reverend Osei Kofi complained bitterly some years ago that the failure of the Ghana Black Stars to win a major trophy is as a result of unfulfilled promises made to some heroes who sacrificed for the nation in the past.
