Superior Custom Officials Beat, Abuse, Slap Us And Call It ‘Para-Military Training’ – Nabco Recruits

The Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo) recruits under the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) have accused their superiors of abusing and beating them.

According to one of the recruits who spoke with Class News on condition of anonymity revealed that their superiors termed the beatings, slaps and abuse as a para-military exercise.

“They said it is a para-military training and the way they are treating us, it’s as if we are in the academy.”

“When we complain, they tell us other organizations are there and we could have applied for others, but we chose to come to Customs, so, they will treat us like how they treat their recruits.”

“They beat and slap us. When you commit any mistake, you’ll be beaten. If you are asked to slap somebody and you don’t slap the person, well, they will slap you”.

Nabco is temporary job offer opportunities introduced by the Nana Akufo-Addo government to optimized the talents of unemployed graduates and equipping them with skills through a process of value addition and training.

The program is expected to last for a 3-year period to prepared the recruits adequately and efficiently for the job market.
