The president of Greater Accra market Association, Mercy Naa Afowa said the lack of security in the markets are factors that lead to fire outbreaks.
She revealed this in an interview on Asempa Morning show on an Accra based Onua Fm.
Mercy Naa Afowa revealed to the host, Nana Okyere Awurukuo that most markets had few or no security officers leaving them in danger of petty theft and other outbreaks.
She stated precisely how a large market like Makola was managed by only two security officers at night.
Though they have thrown their support behind the local assemblies, the assemblies have not triggered any step to help with the security issues and that has led to disasters like fire outbreak.
