Nana Akomea defends Akufo-Addo over promise to reduce fuel prices

Akufo-Addo and Nana Akomea

The Managing Director of the State Transport Company, Nana Akomea says President Nana Akufo-Addo’s promise to reduce fuel prices was a mere campaign talk.

Speaking on Metro TV after a video of then-candidate Nana Akufo-Addo was played promising Ghanaians to reduce fuel prices he said politicians talk when in opposition and only get to see the reality when voted into power.

Nana Akomea, however, noted that politicians should be able to come out and explain to Ghanaians why they made certain promises during the campaign and are unable to achieve them when voted for.

“Every political leader on campaign makes the same comment. CJA, where Sammy Okudzeto says that is where he got his political influence made the same sentiments. All of them. When leaders are campaigning they make these promises but when they come into the office, there is a reality check.

“When you are a political leader and you make certain statements as part of your messaging to the Ghanaian people and you come into the office and see that the reality is different, you need to go back to tell them why you made this promise but why it is difficult for you to fulfill that promise. You need to do that.
