The Director of Elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has said the current voter register is still credible and should be used for the 2020 general elections.
Speaking a press conference held today at the NDC’s headquarter, the former Minister for Youth and Sports in Ghana, while maintaining his party’s position on the voter register stressed that there is no need for a new register.
According to him, the Electoral Commission’s decision to compile a new voter register is a ploy to disfranchise many eligible voters in the strongholds of the NDC.
He further stated that the NDC will employ every legitimate means to resist any attempt by the EC to compile a new voter register when they can use the current one.
“We stand by our position that the current voters’ register is credible and that the country does not need a new voters’ register for this year’s general elections,” he strongly stressed.
