AFCOPB to launch Peace Dialogue Series; first edition focuses on the judiciary

A Ghana-based peace-building organization, Africa Centre for Peace Building -AFCOPB as part of its 8 year anniversary celebration will launch a Peace Dialogue Series on Thursday, September 20, 2018, 1pm -5pm at the University of Profesional Studies in Accra.

The 1st Peace Dialogue Series is being conveyed in collaboration with the Centre for Public Accountability of the Unversity of Profesional Studies-Accra and is scheduled to usher in the celebration of the 2018 United National International Day of Peace.

The event which is on the theme “Strengthening Sustainable Peace and Democratic Accountability” will focus on discussing the role the judiciary in sustaining and improving Ghana’s peace and democracy.

Speaking to Awake News, the Executive Director of AFCOPB, Mr. Korsi Senyo said “the Peace Dialogue is a common platform to bring experts and the general public to discuss and find a solution to some of the major issues that confront the sustains of Ghana’s hard earn Peace, Stability, and Democracy”

Explaining the nature of the programme, he said “will have two sessions; a keynote address on the theme and panel of experts to discuss specific issues relating to the subject matter”

Throwing some light on some of the other specific areas, Mr. Korsi Senyo said the discussion will touch on the role of the General Legal Council of Ghana, the Ghana Bar Association, Civil society, security services in promoting peace and safeguarding Ghana’s stability.

According to him, “Peace is essential for the existence of humanity. It is the foundation stone of every successful and prosperous society. Its absence in any form threatens the growth and development of every nation and its citizens.”.

This he emphasized that “We must, therefore, without any form of excuse make every conscious effort and commitment to build and sustain our peace”
