Ghana’s Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu has submitted a budget of 359 million Ghana Cedis for the operations of his office.
This was revealed by Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament for the Assin Central Constituency in the Central Region, who seemed vindicated.
The Law maker who was against the appointment of Martin Amidu as the special prosecutor described the 359 million cedi budget as astronomical.
He questioned what the budget for the office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice is, saying the special prosecutors’ budget cannot exceed that of the Ministry under which it operates.
‘’Martin Amidu’s office is there but I hear the budget he has brought for his office is 359 million Ghana cedis. Even the Attorney General, how much is her budget?’’ he asked.
Honorable Ohene Kennedy Agyapong expressed his excitement over the development as he feels he has been vindicated saying ‘’Albatross, I am extremely excited, I am very very happy things are panning out this way’’.
