“NIA to Resume Registration in Eastern Region from 7th June Ahead of President’s lifting of Ban on Social Gathering”

The National Identification Authority has set June 7, 2020, to resumed the Ghana Card registration exercise in the Eastern Region under the leadership of Prof Ken Agymang Attafuah.

According to reliable sources, NIA is posed to continue the Ghana Card registration in the Eastern Region since the institution had foreknowledge of lifting of the ban on the social gathering by the president of the republic, Nana Akufo-Addo.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has a matter of urgency is set to address the nation on Sunday, May 31, 2020, concerning the progress made so far in regards to the ban.

It could be recalled that President Nana Akufo-Addo’s last address extended the ban on social gathering to the end of May.

Given the reason for the last ban, the president noted that it could enable the government to assess the impact of the measures put in place to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

To this end, the NIA is already mobilizing and servicing its operational equipment for the successful continuation of the exercise in the Eastern Region.
