Petition lawyer in favor of the National Democratic Congress( NDC), Tsatsu Tsikata has been hailed by Netizens for defending his stance against the court judge.
During the petition against the Electoral Commission(EC) in court today, Tsatsu Tsikata continued referring to the persona, Mrs Jean Mensa who happens to be the EC chair instead of the institution(EC) and was rebuked by the court judge for targeting a persona instead of the whole institution.
The petition lawyer who still made his stance justified his statement making it clear that he had nothing personal with her but mentioned her name to justify the fact that she was the chair and returning officer of the institution.
” Don’t I have the right to mention the name of the chairperson” he questioned.
” My Lord, with the greatest respect, I believe that the constitutional requirement regarding the returning officer and the particular circumstances that we are dealing with in this case, do not make it possible to have the situation that you are envisaging where somebody else steps in for the chairperson. Respectfully, the constitution makes the chairperson and only that chairperson the returning officer and in the circumstances of this case, that chairperson happened to be the person that we refer to in the petition and that chairperson actually was the person who undertook her responsibility”, he rebutted, refraining the court from questioning him when he refers to the persona.
