Manasseh Azure Awuni resigns from Multimedia Group

Investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has resigned from the Multimedia Group – operators of Joy FM, Adom FM, Joy News with while thanking the media giant for the opportunity given him to works with them.

“I wish to announce my resignation from The Multimedia Group.
I thank the management of the company for the opportunity to work with what in my view is the most credible, influential, impactful and daring media organisation in Ghana. I thank them for their support and encouragement all these years. It is no doubt that if I were to work again in a media house in Ghana, I would choose The Multimedia Group.” – a statement posted on his personal blog has said.

According to Azure Awuni, he will “continue to serve Ghana as a freelance investigative journalist and dedicate more time to the writing of books.”

It is not yet clear the reason behind his resignation but Mr Azure has come under heavy criticisms from particularly members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and government official following his “Militia in the Heart of the Nation” documentary that saw the De-Eye Group using the state facility – Osu Castle for their operations.

The state through the Ministry of Information led by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah petitioned the National Media Commission saying the documentary is factually inaccurate. The NMC has since ruled in favour of the state said the documentary was sensational.

Manasseh has in the past released many investigation pieces notable the Ford Saga which sought to suggest the then former president John Mahama was bribed by a Burkinabe contractor with Ford vehicle.

I thank them for their support and encouragement all these years. It is no doubt that if I were to work again in a media house in Ghana, I would choose The Multimedia Group.
I also wish to thank all who have supported me in diverse ways since November 2012 when I joined The Multimedia Group. To the audience of The Multimedia Group and the sources who helped me in my work, I am eternally grateful.
I will continue to serve Ghana as a freelance investigative journalist and dedicate more time to the writing of books.
