The Member of Parliament (MP) for Formena constituency, hon. Andrew Asiamah Amoako has been appointed the 2nd Deputy Speaker.
Hon. Muntaka Mubarak rose to nominate the Independent candidate as the Second Deputy Speaker for the 8th Parliament.
Muntaka Mubarak said;
“Mr. Speaker, in line with article 96 of our constitution and the standing order 12, to rise and propose Honourable Andrews Asiamah Amoako, the Independent Candidate for the Fomena Constituency to take the chair as the Second Deputy Speaker of this august House.
“Mr. Speaker my colleague in the 7th parliament was the NPP member of parliament for Fomena and in very bizarre circumstances, he was dismissed from this Chamber in a way that was in a rainbow style but he persevered and stood as an independent candidate… My colleague honorable Assiamah should take the chair as the 2nd Deputy Speaker, I so propose.”
Following proceedings in the house, the newly elected Speaker Alban Bagbin officially named Fomena MP as the 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
