Born on July 22, 1968, to James Awuni and Amina Awuni, Christiana Awuni is a renowned Ghanaian actress, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Hailing from Kologo, a village in the Upper East region of Ghana, Christiana’s journey to stardom is a testament to her passion, resilience, and dedication to her craft.
Christiana began her basic education at Kumasi Barracks school, where she studied until class 4. She then moved to the Northern region with her parents, where she continued her education. However, due to family difficulties, Christiana dropped out of middle school in her first year.
Christiana’s acting career began at a young age, as she participated in drama groups that toured basic schools. Her talent was nurtured by Director SY, and she had the opportunity to share the stage with the legendary Nkomode. Her breakthrough came when she featured on the popular TV program “Concert Party” alongside Ice Kenkey, a famous Ghanaian comedian in the early 2000s. Christiana’s subsequent appearances on the top Sunday afternoon drama series “Cantata” solidified her position as a rising star in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
Christiana’s persistence and determination led to her landing a role in the popular Ghanaian movie “The Mask,” produced by the late Danfo B.A. and Socrate Sarfo. This marked a significant turning point in her career, as she went on to become a leading lady in Kumawood. Her notable roles in movies such as “Mitim Nea Mitim,” “Menwu Da,” and “Heaven Beyede” earned her numerous awards and accolades.
In addition to her acting career, Christiana is a successful entrepreneur with a cosmetics business. She is also the founder of the Christiana Awuni Foundation, which provides support to the needy, particularly the sick and abandoned.
