Inspector Ebenezer Teye Okuffo, CID Director General has been threatened by the Kaneshie District court to stand trial if he does not present the second suspect in the murder of professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh.
This threat resulted when the suspect did not appear before court on Thursday, December. 10
According to the the investigator, he will personally go and check on the second suspect who was receiving treatment at the Ghana police hospital. He said the Director of medical services at the Ghana Police hospital did not indicate to him when he should come for the medical reports thereby causing the absence of the suspect.
Inspector Teye Okuffo pleaded with the court to give the prosecution a short adjournment to make reports available.
The court presided over by Ms. Ama Adomako Kwakye did not take kindly to prosecution’s request, saying the accused’s life was important and must also be treated fairly, adding that, it was not going to accept any excuses.
