As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) heads to their Parliamentary primaries today elect qualified persons to contest various seats in the upcoming general elections on December 7, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been asked to maintain Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as running mate.
In the 2016 elections, Mahamudu Bawumia helped played some key roles in securing a touch victory for Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party.
His influence in the three Northern now five regions has gotten the NPP to win some Parliamentary seats in the regions and quite a number of votes for Akufo-Addo which hitherto would go in favor of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mahamudu Bawumia as a Northern gave John Dramani Mahama a race for the votes which were supposed to go to the NDC people. It is believed that the Northern part of Ghana is a stronghold for the NDC, however, Mahamudu Bawumia is gradually influencing his people to join the NPP.
On this ground, Ghanaian Journalist and Pollster, Frederick Noamesi deem it right for Akufo-Addo to maintain Mahamudu Bawumiaas his running mate to be able to win about forty per cents of votes from the North.
He warned that changing Mahamudu Bawumia as some people are rooting for at the party will be a disaster for them.
Meanwhile, little is seen or heard from Mahamudu Bawumia as the Vice President of Ghana. Has he gone into redundancy?
