Dancehall musician Stonebwoy has poured cold water on suggestions that he should be friends with fellow Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale.
Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale being two of Ghana’s most popular artists had often been pitched against each other as rivals for the fact that they describe themselves as Dancehall artistes. Their rivalry has become a reality in the last few months, especially since January when Shatta Wale joined Zylofon Media, the record label of Stonebwoy from May 2017.
While some have described the rivalry which has seen the two attack each other on social media as healthy competition, others have called for a ceasefire and even asked for them to be friends.
But speaking in an interview on SVTV Africa, Stonebwoy stated that though he is open to a collaboration with Shatta Wale if the time is right, he does not see the need to be friends with Shatta Wale.
Explaining further, he pointed out that he can never be friends with someone who goes beyond the usual ‘dissing’ in his songs to suggest that he (Stonebwoy) killed his own mother.
“The last song I heard, he insulted me and insulted my mother and it’s not wise. How can you even say in a song that I killed my mother. You don’t know anything about it so you better shush. If you will ‘diss’ me it’s fine but don’t talk about what you don’t know because you will be leaving the music space,” he lamented.
Stonebwoy further pointed out those calling for him to unite with Shatta Wale to consider the fact the that their becoming friends will not add anything to their lives.
‘So we become friends and what will happen?’ he sarcastically wondered.
Moreover, he added, it is Shatta Wale’s strategy to attack others and stay relevant and it is not his but they have been advancing so there is no need for any unity.
